Road Trip!!

The cost of gas to get you to your destination: way too much
The cost of a new battery to get your car going after it is all packed up with kids and stuff: $90
The cost of an emergency room visit to stitch your kid's chin: $100
The cost of food: reasonable
The cost of the memories: PRICELESS!!

We hit the road this past weekend and headed out to St. George. I was a bit nervous because it was the first long car ride my boys have done...the max so far has only been 2 hours. And I have to say they did really well. We did get stuck in a traffic jam in American Fork that added an extra hour on to our drive, but since they were travelling with their mom and her small bladder, they were ok. We went with my family and the motorcycles, and I knew that I wouldn't be able to ride, but I was glad for a change of pace and atmosphere. Scott got to do some golfing, we ate at In 'n Out burger, and I got to read a book and take a nap. What more could a girl ask for?? Ethan and Aiden enjoyed lots of time with aunts and uncles, and Fammie and Bomps. They walked a lot, collected rocks, and found a lot of golf balls on the golf course. We did have one mishap...on Sunday we ended up at the emergency room to get stitches in Ethan's chin after he chased a golf ball into the hot tub surrounded by slate steps, slipped and sliced his chin open. He was amazingly brave, and only cried on the way to the hospital. They wrapped him up like a mummy, and right as they were getting ready to start, he looked up at the doctor with his big eyes filled to the brim with tears and said, "Just be careful." And after that he didn't make a peep. He was rewarded with his favorite pink bubblegum ice cream for being such a brave little thing, and then we went home and collected rocks, did puzzles, and boxed with dad on the wii. I was proud. We are now two for two with stitches...I guess we are creating a pattern!!

On Monday, we felt like we finally had a window of decent weather for the planned harley ride, so we packed up and rode through Zion. (Marsha, ignore the last sentence) It is so beautiful there...I wish we had more time to spend. I can't wait for the day when I pack my family up and we spend a couple of days there looking at and appreciating it's beauty. And riding through the tunnel with five bikes roaring was a great sound too. Oh, and by the way, I did try to ride, but decided that my gutt was too big and it was akward. But I had to try.

All in all it was a great time, and now we can look forward to the next event in our lives...which I can admit I am not ready for. Thanks Mom and Dad for the great time!

sounds like a great weekend. much better than hearing "mom, dad, why did you have to make it rain." Yes, we were blamed for the rainy weekend. glad Ethan is ok and was so brave!
